Nah, I think he got the point dead on.

No, there are not now and never have been any gods. So we ARE living in a world where the god doesn’t exist. Hence, this is what the world looks like without the god and the point was clearly missed.

We have lived in a world in which the concept of god has been around for thousands of years. I wonder where mankind would be if the concept of god never existed?
Or, answer this: why did things turn out the way they did in a world where god has been assumed to exist?

Most of the world’s problems are, and always have been, caused by religion. Mankind will never truly be free until the dark yoke of religion is lifted by the right light of reason and facts.

Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot.
“The greatest crimes in the history of mankind came not from those in thrall to…Judaism and Christianity, but from those who claimed to be atheistic, scientific socialists.” Benjamin Wiker-10 Books that Screwed up the World

deep6johan,
I’ll give you all of them other than Hitler, who publiclly professed his Catholicism, even going so far as to liken himself to Jesus when he threw the Jewish moneychangers out of the temple.
It’s important to recognize something specific here: evil dictators are evil dictators. Whether they subscribe to this or that religious system, or none, is irrelevent. What Hitler did though was mobilize an entire nation of otherwise peaceful Christians, who were suffering no obvious economic hardship, in the name of his cause, which was specifically linked to the Bible.
A individual is just an individual until he can insight a mob or a nation to his cause. Religion, and nationalism, and racism, are all good ways to do this. And they ALL suck.

Religion and God are 2 VASTLY different things.. too bad peoples ignorance and lack of strength to see the truth, cause if they had to see the truth, they’d realize how lost they are, and how much inwardly everyone wants to be closer to their creator.. and besides..
religion is MANS way of getting to God..while Jesus Christ IS God’s way of getting to MAN.
If you cant GRASP this simple statement above, perhaps you should at least READ the bible before casting doubts..

screw religion screw the bible…
i dont need to waste my time reading that, i have allready been forced to learn about christianity in school, wich waas more than enough.

look, you can’t prove there is or isn’t a god, Period! And to be honest, believe in a creator is A LEAP OF FAITH! on the same hand, believing that in the beginning there was nothing, then it exploded and hydrogen turned into people is A LEAP OF FAITH! now let us apply Occam’s razor( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor ) to this. I think it is more believable that something existing in the fifth dimension ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjsgoXvnStY ), in which may i mention contains ALL POSSIBLE UNIVERSE CREATION SITUATIONS, simply caused the events which led to the universes creation. Which makes more sense then a bunch of energy came from nowhere and exploded a bunch of nothing, and then all this nothing turned into people. And yes i understand that it is claimed that all matter in the universe was contained in one point and exploded, but uh, where did it come from?
Another strong point, is the redshift problem, redshift has to with light wavelengths equaling distance. But it was discovered that this isn’t the case, as a quasar was positioned in front of the center of an opaque galaxy it was determined from redshift to be several light years behind where is actually was. The idea the redshift = distance is important because they use this to determine if the universe is expanding, leading to the conclusion that this expansion had an origin, I.E. the big bang. ( http://www.angelfire.com/az/BIGBANGisWRONG/ )
also i’d like someone to explain to me how people have near death experiences, while registering zero brain activity on an eeg?

The world would be the same. Religion is not the problem. The problem is people. If there was no religion we would find something else that allows us to disagree and kill each other because of it. That is what he is saying.

hey is that the twin towers i see, oh no wait, i was just imagining a world without religion, nvm.
March 2nd, 2010 at 11:11 pm
LOL fags, religion is the cock ring to your rusty trombone. You must feel pretty enlightened being anti-religion only, like, 150 years after Darwin! I think Nietzsche might have been in there somewhere too…No matter! You got it now! Hoo-ray!
April 26th, 2010 at 9:55 am
The joke was funny, now shut the fuck up.
June 15th, 2010 at 5:01 am
It would be a lot more peaceful. Not peaceful, but more so than with religion.
June 16th, 2010 at 7:50 pm
What they meant here was that god as we think we kown it has never actually existed!!! Not “the concept of god” but god it self, an old guy living in heaven deciding who goes to live with him or who burns in the hot flames of hell for all eternity! That loving guy!
GOD!! WHY IS IT THAT YOU GUYS ALWAYS HAVE TO KILL EVERY GOOD JOKE ON THE INTERNET!!
June 24th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
The Big Bang theory does not assert that something came from nothing, it posits that the universe as we know it began as something akin to an incredibly hot, incredibly dense plasma state, so dense that it could only expand outward. And it’s still expanding today. Things like life and planets have not come out of “nothing,” they have come out of a series of elegant and amazing natural processes that we are only beginning to understand.
As for what the world would look like without religion? Would it be more like the world I envision as a secular humanist, or would things like nationalism and racism expand to “fill the gap” in terms of inciting divisiveness and violence between people? That is an important question.

imagine a world where that web comic is funny. not earth… or mars, or the sun, probably in moronnia
July 31st, 2010 at 4:15 pm
You can not imagine such a thing.
Explanation: remember when you do a research, and you want to find out if a trait is inherited genetically or acquired by environment. In that case, you find a dozen or so pair of identical twins to see if one pair has it, the other one needs to have it too.
Well, there are no two copies of this world, one with God and one without. There is just one world. And there is no way one could find out if he is living in one. At the end, all matter came from an infinite small space some 14 billion years ago – why this way and why at this time!?!

And on that note…
Dunt dun duuh DAAAAHHHH!
!!!!!!!!!AN ATHEIST SHIRT STORE!!!!!!!!!
Aristotle’s Muse
This is my favorite atheist store. Maybe wearing an atheist T-shirt won’t change the world, but enough of them just might.
